Located on the southwest coast of Portugal, the Coastal Alentejo has a rich and fascinating history, having witnessed the presence of different cultures over the centuries.

During the Roman occupation, several cities and towns flourished in the region, such as the city of Miróbriga (now known as Santiago de Cacém). This town is said to have played an important commercial role, with thermal baths, a forum and a basilica. The Roman ruins of Miróbriga can be visited for just €3. 

With the decline of the Roman Empire, the region was invaded by the Visigoths and later by the Moors. During the Moorish period, the city of Alcácer do Sal became an important center of defense and commerce, with the construction of a castle and the exploitation of agriculture and fishing.

In the 12th century, the Coastal Alentejo was conquered by the Christians and played a crucial role during the Portuguese Discoveries. The coastal towns of Sines and Porto Covo were the starting points for many of the maritime expeditions carried out at that time.

In addition, the Coastal Alentejo area is home to a variety of historic buildings, such as old churches, fortresses and castles. Some of the best known are the Fort of São Clemente, in Vila Nova de Milfontes; the Fort of Pessegueiro, in Porto Covo; the Castle of Sines and the Castle of Santiago do Cacém.

The Coastal Alentejo comprises five municipalities: Alcácer do Sal, Grândola, Santiago do Cacém and Sines (belonging to the district of Setúbal); and Odemira (district of Beja).

In Campo de Ourique there is quantity and quality. As you walk around the neighborhood, you'll find all kinds of stores - cafés, pastry stores, restaurants, grocery stores and a variety of stores. It is also home to some of the best schools and colleges in the city, such as the "Liceu Pedro Nunes" and the "Salesianos de Lisboa".

Campo de Ourique is very well located, in the center of the triangle formed by Amoreiras, Estrela and Prazeres. Just an 11-minute walk from Amoreiras Shopping Center and a 15-minute walk from Jardim da Estrela.

The famous streetcar 28, which runs through Lisbon's historic neighborhoods, has its last stop here, next to the Prazeres Cemetery. 

Several streetcars and buses pass through the streets of Campo de Ourique throughout the day. In three years' time, the neighborhood will also have a metro station.

The fishing village of Porto Covo is undoubtedly one of the most charming destinations in the Coastal Alentejo. This typically Alentejo village is known for its welcoming and authentic atmosphere, with picturesque streets painted white and blue that invite you to explore every nook and cranny. One of Porto Covo's treasures is Pessegueiro Beach, a beach with golden sand and calm, crystal-clear waters, accessible from a small path between green hills. The beach's name is a reference to the Pessegueiro Island, a stunning rocky island that rises a few meters from the coast. Porto Covo is also home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, such as Banho, Buizinhos and Grande de Porto Covo.

At Tasca do Celso, in Vila Nova de Milfontes, the concept is simple but sophisticated: traditional flavors accompanied by good wine.
